I was informed by my mother that I will be taking Drivers Ed through my school because it is cheap. I offered to pay for private, but she ignored my suggestion. Now I have to rearrange my bursting schedule.

The dilemma is that I have a full class schedule already that doesn't include DE.

My classes are such for my soph year: *= required class

*soph comp- 1 credit/ 1 sem
eastern lit- 1c/1s
* world civilization- 2c/1year
* algebra 2- 2c/1y
* anatomy- 2c/1y
chemistry 1- 2c/1y
bio 2- 1c/1s
*PE 2- 1c/1s
symphonic band- 2c/1y
german 2-2c/1y

classes = 16 credits and 8 full periods each semestor. This is the max amount of classes allowed.

There are two classes that I can trade for DE. eastern lit or bio 2. I won't drop band or german because band/choir is an awesome program with a ton of people, and I need foreign lang to get into college. Same with chem 1.

Door #1- Take DE over eastern lit and miss out on the best english teacher at my school who is retiring after this year.

Door #2- Take DE over bio 2 and not be prepared for AP bio, which is a KILLLER at my school.

Door #3- Take DE as a junior and beg rides off of friends and family until I get my license a year late.

Gee, online drivers ed is pretty cheap. Just do the hours online and be done. I am taking driver's ed for one week this summer. I can't imagine taking it for a whole semester.

You might want to try kollegkid's suggestion. Otherwise, I would go with option #3. I wouldn't want something like DE compromising my academic schedule.

Take driver's ed online.
seriously.
do whatever you can to convince your mom.
driving is essential in this world.
if not, then definetly door #2.

Instead of picking one of your doors, do this:

Tell your mom you'll take DE in junior year, while you pay for private DE outside of school. If your mom asks what you're doing during the times you have to go to DE, just say you're involved with activities and other things. This is lying to your mom, I know, but all your doors involve a great deal of sacrifice. I'm not trying to promote lying or immorality, but as life goes on, you realize how useful this kind of edging around is (assuming you don't hurt anyone).

Can you take some of the classes at a community college in your spare time? I know my local CC offers several levels of German, and definitely some bio--yours may too. In the end, you may get to listen to your mom, save money you would spend on a private course, and probably impress colleges. Hope everything works out!

Next summer I will be a conselor at my local girl scout camp. The bad thing is, it starts THE DAY AFTER school lets out. so no summer classes.

I already take the bus to school and back. I don't mind at all. I just hate begging rides off my friends when we have movie nights because I live so far out of town.
