This has been on my mind for awhile. It seems to me that their are an excess of extremely well-qualified applicants in the applicant pool of the Ivies. And it also seems that most of these students are willing to put forth alot of effort to make themselves stand out in the crowd. So the question I have is, why doesn't anyone take any graduate level exams (the GRE or the GRE subject tests, or GMAT's)? I'm sure there are people who could perform extraordinarily on them, yet I've yet to hear of a high school student taking any. Is it not allowed or something? Or would colleges just completely disregard it? I just thought it was interesting that many people who are taking 7-8 SAT II's (i've seen some on this board) wouldn't take the time to take some more difficult exams in hopes of gaining favor. Thoughts anyone?

Yes. Schools do not want or require tests other than the ones they designate. They also know that if they actually gave any consideration at all to another test, a large flock of anal students would feel compelled to take it and submit it and the last thing they want is to have more test scores larding up their admission process. Also, you seem to be of the assumption that somehow test scores are nirvana for places like the ivies. Test scores simply get you into the large pool of candidates who will be given some real consideration, it is everything else that will get you in.
