i’m currently a freshman at emory and i’m hoping to transfer to brown.
i may either:
a) spend another year here and apply to transfer for my junior year or
b) take a year off to work and apply as a sophomore transfer

**do you think the admissions people would look favorably upon my taking a year off? i wouldn’t be sitting around, i’d be working, possibly in something related to my major.

also, what are my chances?
high school:
gpa: 3.86/4.0
sats: cr 750, m 720, w 800 = 2270
sat ii: literature 750, us history 740, bio-m 690
classes included APs and honors
ap scholar with honor
national merit letter of commendation
extracurriculars were good, including editor-in-chief of lit mag

college:
gpa: 3.65 (probably 3.75 when the semester ends next week)
wide array of classes
probably good recommendations
very involved on campus, including leadership positions for next semester

THANKS SO MUCH!

how many courses does your intended major at brown require? Brown prefers sophomore transfers but I think you may choose to be a sophomore even if you have enough credit to be a junior. That is what they wanted me to do but I said no.

Would it not be better to call Brown Admissions Office and speak to a counselor who could answer this question?

i guess so. thanks.

Yeah this isn’t really a question that people on this board are going to know the answer to. You’re not getting any responses because we don’t have an answer, not because we don’t want to help. While I know quite a bit about freshmen admissions, I know really nothing about transfer admissions other than that it’s more difficult.

there are a couple of trannies who post here actually. one being myself…

This word… I do not think it means what you think it means.

ok, thanks anyway.
and hahaha - i’d go with “transferees” next time instead.

we’re all open-minded, accepting people…

the unit wars team for transfers is actually called “trannies” and many cross dress. but these are details. try not to correct me from now on since you are but mere mortals. kthxbai
