(An Interesting Story)

This is kind of a long story, but bear with me! I cannot believe this happened! So about nine or so days ago, I checked my CMU application status online. This is what it looked like (in fancy Courier New):

College: CIT Dept: ECE Program: Decision: Waitlist

College: MCS Dept: BSC Program: Decision: Waitlist
etc.

I was pretty upset. I really wanted to get in to CMU. So I turned to this forum for some support, and I found out about Priority waitlist. I was eager to see if I had recieved Priority; however no letter ever came for me in the mail. Days slipped away, (I had a busy week of lacrosse) and Saturday came along. Still no letter. I had a lacrosse game on Saturday, so I did not have the chance to call the admissions office. Then…

Today I checked my email. One subject line caught my eye:

Admitted Student Chat Invitation

It was from Carnegie Mellon! I thought to myself, I wasn’t admitted! I was waitlisted! I read the first line over and over again:

“Congratulations on your acceptance to Carnegie Mellon!”

I was very much confused. I called CMU. It turns out that I was waitlisted for ECE, but I was accepted to CIT. MY ACCEPTANCE LETTER GOT LOST IN THE MAIL!!

I still cannot believe it. I mean, for a whole week I pounded the thought that I didn’t get in to CMU. So my brain truly believes that I didn’t get in, and now I’m trying to tell it that I did get in… ahh! I’m so excited!!

It all feels like a fairytale… what are the chances that MY letter got lost in the mail!? I can’t believe this actually happened!

How am I going to sleep tonight?

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! What great news for someone who wanted CMU as badly as you did.
