An interview too early?

I'm going to be applying to some schools through QuestBridge, but my application for it is due September 30th. Would it be too early to try and set up interviews during the summer, before my application is sent? If I do it after, I might not get it in time for the decision, which is completed by November.

It would be a good idea to interview during the summer, which is what many students do since they have little time during the school year to travel to colleges.

Thanks Northstarmom! I was just wondering because they wouldn't have my application in yet.

Some schools won't interview you without your completed application.

If you are sure you want to apply to a school but have not visited it yet, I would actually wait until the school year to interview. That way, if you like the campus and what you hear at the interview, you won't have to make a trip back after your acceptance to see if you actually like the classes and the feel of the student body. Going in the summer will be an extra trip. I'm in this position right now: I don't want to miss school for interviews, but if I'm travelling 1,500 miles I don't want to do it one more time than necessary.

If you don't know that you're applying to the college, I would recommend going in the summer. That way, if for some reason you can't stand what you experience, you won't waste your time on the application.
