An SAT Failure

I have some friends here at our school...
theyve been preparing for the SAT test for ages...
with a private tutor...
now...

after many dollars spent on these very special classes
the best they could do was ex: 1600, 1700, 1450...
and one of my best friend~s brother (grade 8) got a 1570 on his test.
better than 60% of the national percentile...
how weird is that:

It's not that wierd.

Certain people on this site scored over 1400 on the old SAT in 7th grade.

i think a 1570 now isn't even comparable to somebody who scored over a 1400 on the old sat.
i mean, seriously.

He's in the 8th grade. He shouldn't be wasting money on a prep course when he still has plenty of time to take the SAT after he has a few more years of school under his belt.

haha I got 1130 on the old SAT in 7th grade and I thought that was good until i came on here.

obviously a 1570 isn't comparable to an old 1400; a 1570 is more like a 1040.

Well, a 1040 for an 8th grader isn't bad, really, considering he probably hasn't covered most of the math on there and has very little critical reading experience...I got a 1040 on M/V for the PSAT in 9th grade, and ended up witha 1490 as a senior on M/CR for the real thing...it's really all just getting CR practice (just doing it for books/poems in school) and covering the math.
