anyone want to do that list thing? okay, just checking. And, okay, so if I get a lot of 3's and 4's, would that drastically change my chances of going to a UC compared to getting a 5. I know it will effect it, but HOW drastically?

Dude, You Are Weak! Ucla Will Reject You If That's All You Got!

chill wanster
yo i think u have a fairly decent chance - i dont think anyone has a great chance at harvard just because its really random sometimes but i dont think a couple of fours will hurt you THAT mcuh, especially if ur taking 9-10 ap classes

Thanx for the advice, except for you, wanster. Anyways, I'll still be checking the thread a lot if anyone else has something they want to add.

Dood. Wankster pwnz0rs. You couldn't get into Chico.
Scrub.

Just kidding.

I think ivy is right, college admissions seem so RANDOM, it's hard to tell.

first of all, where the hell is Chico. second of all, I'm not really interested in all the other ivies, just Stanford. If i could get into the others, cool, but it would be much more convenient to go to Stanford. Anywayz, yeah, ivies are random, but whutever, UC's r great, so its all good

Harvard: Reach
UCB: Match
UCLA: Match
UCSD: Safety

I dislike the atmosphere of UC's. They don't really fit me.

first of all, Stanford is not an ivy, though admissions is actually more competitive for Stanford than it is for some of the ivies. second of all, i admit that getting 3's and 4's won't drastically alter your chances of going to a UC compared to getting a 5. it'll probably be different for schools like Stanford and Harvard, though.

flopsy, you, my friend, rock. I've been waiting for someone to do that.

Anytime, funkmasta!

I have to agree with his list
Stanford: Reach
Harvard: Reach
UCB: Match
UCLA: Match
UCSD: Safety

funkmasta,
make sure you have discussed finances with your folks before you get too much further into the process - if you are pretty sure you want to do medicine, the cost of attending an Ivy for both - full freight - is going to run about 300k. The collegeboard site contains an EFC (expected family contribution) that will give you a pretty good handle on how much Ivies will expect you and your family to pay. Most families need to cut back and take some loans to manage their EFC.

It is important to look at all the financial angles, because you have the potential of getting some very good acceptances - and it would be awful to have to decline because of money.

The UC's are a great option since you are a Californian. Schools that offer merit aid would be another.

AP's are self-reported on most college applications. If you got a poor score, do not report the score. The college that you attend will verify the score, so be accurate!

I will garauntee 4's and 5's on the rest of my AP tests. I do regret getting a 2 on my AP Biology exam, though, that's the only reason I was worried about AP exams and the effect of it. Thanx for the info ohio_mom.

funkmasta,
collegeboard (my favorite charity) will not report the AP scores that you designate (for a fee!). Don't let that 2 escape into the world. Best wishes on your AP's in May. It is AP review world around here, too!

but then colleges will look at ur transcript and assume u did not follow through and take the respective ap exam - i dont think theyll like that either

alright, new question, is Stanford that big of a reach? cuz I have just now decided that I want to go to Stanford alittle more than UCLA, but UCLA is still really good if I can get in.

Some schools, like mine, report AP scores on the transcript. (Why they do that, I do not know.) So in my case, my AP scores got to the college whether I wanted them to or not.
