An University That Has It All?

I say, in this day and age, and seeing how the economy is and how expensive college is getting to be...being able to attend an university that 'has it all' is a boon and practical consideration.

And I may be biased, but thanks to current students and visiting prospects alike, this thread has been going strong at the Washington University in St. Louis forums--

<a href="http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/washington-university-st-louis/878100-school-has-all-washington-university-st-louis-3.html%5B/url%5D">http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/washington-university-st-louis/878100-school-has-all-washington-university-st-louis-3.html</a></p>

What do you guys think should be in a school that 'has it all?'

I don’t know, but a good list of features would need to be smaller and more abstract than the one you cited. That list nicely shows that there is a lot to love about WUSTL, for the benefit of WUSTL people and prospective students. For a general purpose list of desired features, the in-joke items don’t work (“29. Awesome Pre-O’s!”, “39. The Bunny. Enough said.”), but some of the others do (“Big university resources, smaller LAC-style attention to students”). So, edit out the WUSTL marketing hype and teenage vocabulary ("amazing … amazing … AMAZING …), starting with the first ten items, to come up with something like:

Beautiful campus architecture

Big university resources, smaller LAC-style attention to students

A well-designed curriculum

Good career counseling programs and resources

A highly qualified student body

Good dorms

Good food

A friendly, helpful atmosphere

Lack of cut-throat competitiveness among students

Easy access to public transportation

etc.

^^ You have a great point. Rewriting to list with broader attributes would help.

Taking the above poster’s ideas, let’s start a list of prime traits of a prime university:
