analysis: why was i rejected from UCLA

I know these are stressful times, but can I be real here for a second? Don’t get me wrong, just reading the little overview of yourself makes me wish I could give you my UCLA admission (… that is, unless Cal turns me down…), but do you realize what you’re doing? You’re undermining everyone else who got in.

When people make threads like this on this forum it’s effectively saying “look how amazing I am, how did all of these lesser beings get picked over me?” Now obviously to a much gentler degree, but am I wrong? I’ve said this time and time again - GPA isn’t the only element that goes into an admission decision. You mention all of the extracurriculars/intangibles that should have made your application stand out, but the person you don’t know who got in with a lower GPA doesn’t get the same benefit and is instantly assumed to have had a weaker profile overall? There’s clearly a double-standard here.

Like I said, everyone’s stressin’ and this thread was probably an impulse, but think. The possibility of getting in (via an appeal) is still very much alive, take advantage of it rather than throwing fists at walls. We’ve all been there.
