Hey! So I'll be starting at UF for the Summer B term (ignore my username haha, I made it before I got into UF :p) and was wondering which 2 classes I should take. I was thinking a math and an English class, but I've already taken AP Calculus AB (passed with a 3) and AP Language & Composition (passed with a 4). I plan on retaking calculus since I'll be premed, but I was wondering if I should do it over the summer and get it over with (it'll basically be a glorified review anyway, I'm just taking it to make sure all of my bases are covered when it comes to applying to medical school) or should I wait to take it in the fall when the class isn't accelerated? Does anyone know if it's super challenging to take a math class over the summer in a 6-week term?
I'm currently in AP Literature and Composition and I'm planning on passing (knock on wood) with either a 4 or a 5- English is one of my best subjects besides science, so I'll probably have the American and British Lit credits. Since English won't be my major, I'm thinking I may be done with English after high school with my AP credits.
Any advice?

MAC2311 is not offered in summer B; it is offered in summer C.

Use this site and explore it:

[UF Registrar](Office of the University Registrar)

under Summer 2012, click Course Listings.

oh okay, i must have misread the course listings. survey of calculus 1 is offered during summer b term, however. does anyone know if that satisfies the calculus requirement for medical school?

I could be wrong but I think med school actually cares about class difficulty as well as GPA and survey of calc doesn’t cut it. I don’t know this for sure but that is what I thought when I was a premed.

yeah, I’ll probably just end up waiting till Fall to take actual Calc 1 with Analytical Geometry, just to be safe. Thanks :)

Some medical schools require 2 semesters college math and require calculus as one of them.
Med schools do not generally like AP/IB/DE credits to be used for math or science requirements.
They want to see your performance in the traditional 4 year univeristy setting. Since you have done AP calc already you`ll be fine to take calc 1 during the summer B…as you said it will be mostly review.
I started with Calc 2 last fall as a freshman and it was mostly review however pace is faster than in HS.
