So I am a Junior in high school and I don’t know what to pick anatomy or physics. Some teachers say that taking physics stands out in your transcript but I also want to take anatomy since I might consider nursing in the future. I want to know if colleges look if you took physics. I want to get accepted to college so I just want to know what stands out more and what classes do colleges like to see.
You should pick based upon which you would enjoy more. Personally, I think that Anatomy and Physiology would be more enjoyable, especially if you are thinking about going into nursing. There are many, many paths into nursing, ranging from a community college RN, to a local state college or local private college BSN, to flagship state U BSNs and even Ivy league BSNs. You don’t have to choose Physics over Anatomy and Physiology just because you think it would impress a nursing school.
I think you should take physics this year and AP Bio and A&P next year (they go well together) if you want to be a nurse.
I think it’s a little late to take Physics “this year” in February for a current Junior.
OP, are you somehow going to take these classes in your remaining Junior year? I assumed this was Senior year course registration.
No, I can’t take these classes this year it’s for my senior registration that’s why I don’t know what to pick because it is my last year.
If you want to apply to nursing, then A&P is the way to go. (AP Bio in addition to that if you can).
Note that for nursing you should optimally take Precalculus and/or AP Statistics (or regular Statistics), Spanish 3 or 4, AP World History or general world history, AP psychology or regular psychology, and of course English. If your school offers an elective, Nutrition or other Health-related classes would be good.
- find ways to volunteer, perhaps in a nursing home, a hospital, a clinic, as long as it is safe to do so (hopefully by senior year things will have become less dangerous).
