And it begins

40 days has started…hooray for BCT-style briefings, training sessions, and new rules!!!

But on a fun note, 2010 started it off by charging the stage when our training officer came to brief us on the ROEs. Granted, there was some disciplinary issues regarding the “unprofessional” nature of the “spirit” we showed…but hey…we’re RTBs, right???

40 days, 2010!!! Let’s do this!

Good luck.

Woot, started the recognition type training a couple weeks ago. So, we're ahead, so today's training was really funny. Our uppers were laughing cause we weren't even sweating, ahaha. Way to go for hard score squad.

What happens after Recognition?

We get to be normal people, like wear civvies, walk around like everyone else, call people by first names (upperclassmen). So ya, real people again.

I guess it's recognition of your status as human beings? I kind of got that after I quit my job as a cashier.

@hornet: I guess that would definitely be a benefit right about now. Unfortunately our new training officer saved everything for tonight...before this all we had were PT sessions. Luckily I had been keeping in shape just for my own reasons...but some others in my squad weren't so lucky. :P

In what year is recognition?

Your first..

I was curious because I didn't know students wore civies at the academy, i thought it was always uniform.

During the duty day (0700-1645) you're pretty much always in uniform. However, after that (and any extra briefings, etc.) upperclassmen are allowed to change. (That's not quite the rule, but it's what most people do.)

Yeah, I'm definitely not in good enough shape to take multiple tag-teaming, right now. I think I was asked 4 times in 45 minutes if I was about to pass out...a little embarrasing.

Wow, sounds like exciting stuff ahead next year...cough.haha. GOod luck.

What is your summer gonna entail?

Myne?? Well I'll be at the Academy, going though BCT and Jacks Valley. WHOOP WHOOP.haha
But B4 I go Im going to keep my conditioning up so I dont die when I get there. :)

I'm pretty sure of my summer, but I won't know for certain for about a month or two. I will have 3 weeks of global engagement (required for all) combined with jump. (so 1.5 weeks GE, then 1.5 weeks earning the jump wings), 3 weeks leave (probably the July 4th 3 weeks), and 3 weeks on a base in Japan. I'm very happy assuming that's what I get.

In Japan? Wow. Join the Air Force: see the world.

Whoa, that's awesome.

Can't wait to get to do that.

I got the lucky end if I go to Japan. Starting last year, USAFA sent freshman overseas for the first time. They send 10-15% at the top of the class. However, I'm in the Advanced Japanese classes, so the language department allows freshmen in Japanese to go to Japan for Ops. And all three bases over there are sweet. One is a solely F-16 base, one is outside my old home in Tokyo (plus good aircraft), and the other is in Okinawa (Hawaii of Japan) with F-15's, -16's, and other aircraft. If I go to Kadena, might even be there at the same time F-22's are there. I'm very optimistic, but in either case, it should be fun.

How did you get into AP Japanese? Is there a German equivalent?

I lived in Japan for 3 years growing up. So, I placed high in the validation tests during BCT for Japanese. I tried High School japanese, but I was above the highest class offered and the teacher refused to help me. So, can't help you there (plus I don't think AP Japanese exists)

Are you asking if the german class does the same thing here?
