And Now We Wait...

I haven’t even gotten my log in info yet. -___-

i am sooo worried!!!

If you’re all ED applicants, I honestly wouldn’t worry. I’ve heard Smith’s ED acceptance rate is around double that of RD. That exact stat may be off, but I’m 99.99% certain Admissions in general accepts a significant amount more ED applicants vs. RD ones since they need a way to lock up enthusiastic students with only so many students accepted enrolling (I think it’s 1/4-1/3 accepted enroll…)

This obviously isn’t meant to undermine the intelligence or qualifications of anyone who is or has been admitted ED, I’m just sayin’. Someone could point out how more accepted applicants have enrolled than Smith has anticipated in the last few consecutive years & acceptance rates might change, but I still say your chances are significantly increased as ED applicants. And even if you don’t want to hear this, I’ll still say it really isn’t the end of the world if you don’t get accepted or can’t enroll.

thank you so much anyhow to hear you say this. thanks a bunch=)

I wish I could be comforted like that! But I applied for the spring as a transfer. I heard Smith is more likely to accept transfers in the fall. Anyone know if that’s true?

[Early-decision applications surge at D.C. area colleges - washingtonpost.com](http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2009/12/04/AR2009120401781_2.html)

Also supports the higher acceptance rate for ED although if you look at old posts there are many theories about this re self selecting applicants etc

ED acceptance rate is NOT double the RD rate. It is a little higher, but that’s mostly because the pool of ED applicants is self-selecting (i.e. only people who are really, really into Smith and thus think they are really, really good fits apply ED. Consequently, a higher percentage of them are accepted).

Of course, what’s nice about ED is your much less likely to be rejected outright if you’re on the cusp for admission. Many students are instead rolled over into the RD applicant pool, to give admissions a chance to see their mid-year grades and mull over their application a bit more.

64 percent admitted ED
46 percent admitted RD

36-40 percent yield, which is comparable to other top LACs

Smith admitted students off the wait-list for the last three years.

The wait list acceptances are interesting given what appears to be a housing shortage - my daughters house still has two or three people living in temp rooms - we may have already discussed this though :)

Has anyone heard if ED decisions will be available online on the 11th like last year? Sorry if this has been talked to death! I’m so anxious

To lili92,
Hello, I happened to send an email to the admission office asking abt my app. They replyed my email together with sth like “the decision letters will be mailed on 11th Dec’'. So I guess this year ED1 decisions will be available on 11th Dec:)

Thanks and good luck

I think that the ED decisions will be available on bannerweb on the 11th this year, just like last year. I can’t imagine why they would stop that for this year. Your financial aid info will not be available online however, it will only come with your letter when your letter arrives.

Only five more days! Hang in there guys!

So, has it hit home yet? In 24 hours some of you will be Smith College bound!

my heart is in my chest…good luck all!

Good Luck to all of you!

Don’t get upset if bannerweb crashes like it did last year. I had to wait until 11pm to get my answer because of it. And don’t forget to start the 2014 Smith Decision Thread! lol

I hope I get to meet some of you next year, maybe I’ll be one of your HONS. :)

Good luck everyone! My best friend is waiting on her decision as well.

Yayayyyyyyyyyyy

Welcome to the sisterhood :-)

Congrats, lili!
