I was just on the Parent's forum thread which sites this years scholarship recipients to different schools. I wonder if any of this years intended music major seniors would start a thread listing acceptances, scholarship awards and an abbreviated vitae.

Please no! I wouldn't want this forum to turn into the "brag rag" and "rag rag" extravaganza that they have over on the MT Major Forum... Always nice to go over there and get their impression of the latest broadcast of "You're The One That I Want," NOT!

It's nice to ask questions and get answers or ask advice and get it. IMHO this better serves the people who frequent this board.

I would like to see a running list of acceptances (and rejections) to get a feel for the timing and acceptance rates of the various schools. Scholarships and vitaes? Nah.

Perhaps we could keep everyone happy by having a single, clearly-titled thread such as "Master List of Music School Acceptances" and keeping that information in just one place. Zep and like-minded others could then cheerfully ignore it.

Since DS is a junior this year, and he will definitely mining for scholarship dollars next year at this time, I felt like the scholarship info might serve as a reality check for him. I have not seen the music theater thread mentioned by the Zep. I tend to be impressed with the accomplishments of all CCrs, regardless of the route they take.

Maybe the title of this thread is what turned you guys off? I really like BassDad's idea for the thread title.

I would like to see where kids are accepted as well, and on which instrument.

Having been on this board for awhile now I really don't get the impression that a scholarship/acceptance thread would turn into a bragathon. I have never once been offended or felt put down on this board unlike some I have been on in the past. In fact, I have always felt that for the most part the people that come here truly want to help or truly want to partake of the vast knowledge that the "been there done that's" on this board have.

That said, I would love to see a thread like this because as someone above stated it would give a feel for timing of acceptances as well as an indication of what it might take to get scholarship moneys at different schools.

Also, when someone from this board or someone from this board's child does well and gets into a school of choice I think we are all proud and excited to know that all of this exchange of information has been fruitful. I for one have been checking the boards often to look for info on auditioning college students as well as waiting to see how the current college students fare after graduation.
