In all of the stress of this, it's fun to see when there is pure joy! My d. got an email last night from Reed. It said,

"About your application - we liked it". And gave a URL to a great funny video of Reed students reading haiku about coming to Reed. Indescribable, but for a certain form of humor, amazingly funny.

After a week of a lot of stress, both for her self and for her friends, it was great to see her laugh, and jump up and down and be delighted.

How 'bout your kids? Tell us about the joy, too.

My D was accepted to Reed last night also. She danced around the house in excitement. We all watched the video with her a couple of times and high-fived and hugs all the way around. She has 4 acceptances now (and 1 rejection) and none of them elicited the excitement that Reed did. To see the sparkle in her eye when she talks about the possibilities at Reed is just amazing. Of course how live goes, she has a couple of great merit aid offers at the others and nothing from Reed. We don't qualify for any need-based aid. I just wish it wan't so darn expensive.

congrats to all of you. how fun to hear about kids' joyful reactions - and the good news that follows years of hard work and weeks of painful waiting.

Yesterday at 6AM, by d's eyes filled with tears and she said "How did I get into Carnegie Mellon, I GOT ACCEPTED TO CARNEGIE MELLON, now what do I do?"

chaucer's pal, it's nice to hear the good news.

Whether or not her final choice turns out to be Reed, it's great for her to be able to enjoy the feeling that comes with the acceptance.

carsonmom, now she waits to hear from the others and makes a decision. Her gut reactions when each of the acceptances comes in will tell her a lot about where she really wants to go.
