Andover Acceptance Package

Does the Andover Fedex for acceptances arrive on the morning of March 10th even though it's on a Saturday?

Does that mean they are sent out long before March 10th?

What're in these packages?

FedEx Delivers on saturdays…they probably make the decision mid week, but im not sure.

I hope the Andover package(either a happy Fedex or a sad thin snail mail letter) arrives on the 10th.

^^ Yeah. I can stand a rejection, but I can’t stand the waiting any longer.

The package was a folder that contained an acceptance certificate, a hand written letter from my interviewer, sports info package, revisit dates, welcome letters from the school, tuition payment, and a letter from the swim coach ( and btw, the folder was pretty cool too!)

^ I really want one of those. :/

Deerfield had a sweet one though. They gave you a huge poster, a baloon that says congrats, a bag of white and green eminems, a deerfield pin, a letter from the dean, an acxeptance certificate, etc.

Do you know what the revisit dates are for 2012?

^Planning revisits already?? Lol, check the school websites :)

AH YOU GUYS 13 DAYS.

ill be expecting a rejection letter, but heaven forbid, i beat all the odds that are against me.

@shinelikemystar: odds shmodds. If we apply for four years in a row, they WILL be in our favor then, no? ;)

@swimdude, was Andover’s package Fedex?

Americannigerian: If you are accepted, you’ll receive a Fedex package the morning of M10. If you are waitlisted or rejected, you will receive a letter by regular mail, either on M10 or a few days following.

Is this confirmed? A friend recently talked to someone in the Andover Admission office and was told mail is sent ON the 10th. Maybe things are done differently this year? If anyone knows the answer, pls advise.

Perrier2468: In previous years, decisions were received in the way that I just described it. It has been like that for years and I can’t imagine it being any different this year. I would ask you to visit previous threads that talk about Andover’s decision letters. It will say exactly what I just told you. In fact, I copied this excerpt from the “How Schools Notify Acceptances” thread:

“Phillips Andover - large FedEx for acceptances on morning of March 10, regular mail for other”

Starkali’s description was my daughter’s experience as well.

What if you live far from the school but still in the country? Will the package still arrive in the morning? If it doesn’t, does that mean I’m rejected?

On a more comical note, I couldn’t imagine what my interview’s note would be like if I actually got in. The alumni that interview me was a cold as a dead fish, no offense :). I kept trying to talk and make a joke, but it went right over her head. When I acted intelligent, it also went right over her head. I felt like I was talking to a two year old. When I asked about her experience at Andover, she said that she struggled to keep her grades up and did badly on her main courses. Also, she said that no one goes to Andover to learn, but it is more for the connections with higher status people. It took all my will power to keep myself from laughing.

^ I had a similar interview with an Exeter alum. Overall, he was incredibly nice, casual and friendly, but his remarks about Exerer were weirdly discouraging (he talked about how no one could have free time and everyone was overloaded with work etc.), though overall he said he had enjoyed it and would never regret attending.

anyone have any idea how it works for international students? e.g. is someone living in a time zone ahead of the US likely to receive their package on the 11th?:S

^^^^

It depends on the school, but I always have associated emailing with international students, even when the school usually does snail mail. Look at the “How Schools Notify Acceptance” thread and find your schools on the list.
