It seems like quite a lot of people got accepted to andover..why is this??

I was thinking the same thing. Perhaps there's something about the people who frequent this site and the kinds of people Andover seeks? Maybe it's because Andover is a larger school and admits more people. Maybe it's just the random luck of the draw. But from an unscientific review of today's posts...and using only the anecdotal evidence shared here, it sure seems like Andover was kind to CC posters.

Then again, keep in mind that unlike the on-line notifications, only good news was delivered for Andover applicants today. That, too, may skew our impression of things.

maevey, a lot of ppl don't know yet either .
apparently some of the acceptances were sent out saturday priority .

I think it's because more people know about their Andover acceptences than most other schools, since many of their letters arrived today.

It's also prob the most "applied to" school on this board

Many of us applied to Andover on this site.

For myself, this was the only school I applied to, and I could only DREAM of getting in. Sorry if I seem to be bragging or talking about it too much. =/

I have some virus that pops up my virus protector isn't killing on this (a work) computer. DON"T click on anything!

Anyway, I think Andover has long been the most open of top prep schools to all kinds of applicants. Size helps too. Schools like SPS, Deerfield and Choate have so many legacies, Choate gets tons of NYC rich and connected. SPS gets all the Episcopal Bishop's kids and Deerfiend a lot of foreigh royalty. There are so few open spots after all of them and the other hooked (programs like ABC, athletes, dancers at SPS, math geeks at Exeter, Ichan Scholars at Choate, staff kids and locals) are chosen, it's just crazy.

You are in everywhere if you are a hooked 4.0/97, but if you're unhooked it's still hard. We weren't trying to be mean with the warnings. I for one honestly believe it's important to really understand this prior to March 10.

Several of my brother's friends did not get into any of the big name schools that announced today. As that's 3 of the big 4, Hotchkiss, Choate, Cate.....They are all great students and great kids unfortunately from Socal competing with movie star kids, lots of brilliant Asians and lots of the very wealthy. All of them, however, have a safety BS because they all want to go. Most important lesson for those of you applying next year's applicants.

That's a hook?! Wo0t!! :D

It's a hook if you are several year's into college math at a strong private school or a respected college.

Swing dance at the local cc will not help...

Ah, I see.

What is "swing dance"? :D

Congratulations to your brother Suze! No doubt his sister gave him good tips. If you don't end up in ibanking, you could become an educational consultant.

i don't know! i got in too! which is a really big suprise i didnt expect it

Lol Burb, I worked for an ed consultant last year in China, still help them with some US needs and plan to go back some breaks and summers. Look how great CC is, it's helped give me the tools to get free trips to Asia!!
