<p>hi. i'm applying to be a sophmore at andover and am planning on doing the essay choice where you invent a gadget and sketch it.
two questions:
i think what i'm planning on "inventing" is similar to something already invented ? but there are different components and it's personalized. do you think this would be alright or would i seem uncreative ?
it says to "sketch" an advirtisement for the gadget, but do you think it would be alright if i got a little crafty and collaged or something ?
it's harder than you think to think of a useful gadget for a student that hasn't already been invented !</p>

<p>As someone who chose the same question (and got in) my only advice would be to not stress about the issue. That being said, I doubt anyone on CC would offer specific advice about an application since it is ultimately YOUR application. My only advice would be to do what you feel the most comfortable with. If you find one option less than satisfactory, then choose the other. Doing something because you believe the admissions office will prefer it, rather than your personal preference, might leave you unsatisfied.</p>
