they've been agressively recruiting me after I notified them that iwas interested

what does a postgraduate year mean? i've never heard of it...

pg, postgraduate... it means you go to school for one year after 12th grade. kind of like 13th grade. i'd say phillips exeter > andover. better school IMO. and i think exeter has higher admit rate for pgs into ivys? i dunno 4 sure tho

well, Exeter certainly accepts more PG's than Andover does. We have an incoming PG class of about 40 students every year, as compared to around half of that for Andover. The PG admit rate into top schools are very impressive, but they are often skewed. There's a saying around campus that you know you're an exonian when even the quarterback of your football team is going to Yale (this was last year). Of the few PG's i know from last year who are currently at places like Harvard and Georgetown, they were all athletic PG's. We have a few academic PG's every year and I don't know enough about their individual circumstances to comment on them.

Hey, hey, let's not start another prep school ranking war. Andover and Exeter are both excellent schools. Both have a different feel to it. Most PG's at Andover do well in terms of college also... usually they need another year to boost their grades or for sports recruiting or whatever. Andover and Exeter have very different feels, though. Visit both and see what you think.

What would be the purpose of a postgraduate year? Is it to study some more high school courses?
I'm just curious, why not go to college instead?(not familiar with PG)

cuz 4 years of high school just aint enough

Deferred, your SAT score and school ranking are very good. You don't need a PG year in andover or exeter to boost your grade. Unless you are a recuited athletic or have a special reason. you can save your 40K PG tuition for the college.

How is the FA for PG students in Andover? Anyone knows?

ANDOVER!!!!!! I applied there and got waitlisted.. Awesome school, much more freedom, better location (closer to boston too), no uniforms. Bill Bellicheck, coach for Patriots, had PG year there and LOVED it!. ANDOVER ANDOVER ANDOVER! HAHA.
