Andover set to report record low admission rate

Yeah but I wonder how they identify the person who posts…

TomtheCAt I don’t suppose you would know anything about Exeter.

I don’t know anything about Exeter’s numbers, I’m afraid, but I would assume that applications are up there as well.

Sure. I’ll help. Back off and lighten up. He explained it. He apologized. The info came “from someone who works in the admissions office”. People talk, people hear stuff, people get excited. Parents, students, trustees and faculty all hear things all the time. I do. So do others. Not repeating that info is an art. And yes do not fool yourselves, some people at these schools read these postings. To my knowledge they do not post themselves, but they do watch for inaccuracies.

TomTheCat’s explanation sounds accurate. At the appropriate time most of these schools will disclose # of applicants, acceptances, yields, tuition increases, and all the information you desire. Be patient. The best information is accurate information.

It is my understanding that TTC is a student tour guide. As such I’m sure he works directly with the Admissions office on a regular basis.

You are now free to talk without insults. Deerkiss was just banned.

i asked my interviewer about exeter’s applicants, he said there was like 3000-4000 applicants in all this year, i think. i dont remember that well.

I doubt that Exeter has 3000-4000 applicants, but then again it is possible… Don’t you think Exeter will more have in the low 3000s ?

schoolgirlieusa:

wow…do u have the exact figure??? I’ve been having heart attacks seeing these figures since TomtheCat’s last thread

ahah. no, sorry. my interviewer threw his hands up in the air and was like i dont know, 4000 would be my guess, or something like that. but i dont know whether or not that includes repeats and applicants applying for 10+.

**Okay so waiting for March 10th is getting to some of you. Take a moment to relax and laugh. Just Click a few of the following: **

OH MY
Did they seriously turn down some bright kids and accept those …“funny” ones?
I understand the admission team may get really bored(especially the Andover AOs), but it’s just kind of sad that some really nice kids were turned down…

A Joke. Just a Joke. If you actually believed it was serious, then well
a) You need to firmly bang you head against the wall
b) Check your meds or see the doctor
c) Read it again, and well… just keep reading it.

I have full confidence that you are just joking (right? Please tell me I am right?). Okay, now relax and just wait until May 10th. That is when admissions are announced. ;)

Oh haha I get it now. It’s late here(midnight) and my English seems…not as good as I expected. So errr sorry!!!
LOL thank you so much for posting! I’m applying next year. Anyways, I promise I’ll re-read it on March 9th, 2011.

Thanks again! These are funny!!!

It’s a bit strange, but I’m mostly relieved that the admissions decision date has been postponed until May 10. That’s two additional months to make good use of this adrenalin surge!

Not only is it a joke but also a student written creative piece. I don’t think AOs would be paying so much attention to kids names. A chuckle on some “extreme” ones is possible of course.

Mainer, the admissions date has not been postponed; what are you talking about?

Winterset when they say CC, they mean Columbia College…I think.

Of course it has! Winterset let slip the previously unannounced news in post #53 above.

Mainer, you’re silly.
