Hello....which school do you think is better out of these 3?

I like the Setting of Lawrenceville but I heard the Dorm weren't that good? (True?)

I like Taft's Campus the best out of the three (from pictures I have seen, although I really like Lawrenceville's Campus as well)

Andover's Campus does not look very appealing to me at all, But heard it a pretty good school education wise and heard some dorms are nice to live in. The dining hall stands out haha.

Hm… maybe the big campus isn’t appealing? I know everyone doesn’t have to think Andover has an amazing campus, but I’m curious on what doesn’t attract you to it…

I wouldn’t choose Andover. I think Lawrenceville and Taft are more closeknit/homey. They have less students and Lville has the house system, and they both have rural campuses as opposed to Andover’s suburban one. Andover’s campus reminds me of a college. Andover probably has more cool opportunities though. It’s the most well-known out of the three.

Most of the Lawrenceville dorms were recently renovated so they’re better now, but they’re still just OK compared to other schools’ dorms.

Oh. Now that I read that over again, I was being kind of harshly straightforward about my opinions. Andover’s a great school yall. >< It all depends on what you value in a school.

I’m an Exeter grad with a Taft student. I think they are all strong academically. My D liked Taft and Andover more than Lawrenceville. Chose Taft because it’s smaller and a bit more “hands-on.” Turned out to be a perfect choice for her. But it might not be for you. (Although I will admit I love Taft with a passion now that have experienced what they’re like in "real life.)

But it’s all about the fit. Can’t judge by a viewbook - only a visit will tell you for sure. And one person’s heaven is another person’s hell. Visit if you can.

@ebhockey: Well, I’m not going to pretend to know enough about both schools to make a definitive statement, but there are a few reasons.

L’ville students score about 140 points higher on the SAT on average, though tbh I’m not a big fan of the SAT, and scores may not count for much. L’ville uses the Harkness method L’ville is more selective. L’ville has better matriculation (in my opinion; I do take into account that its student population is larger than Taft’s). But, in the end, I guess a lot of it is based on personal impression. Well, in the end they’re all top schools. And, in any case, academic differences are not the be-all-end-all. Every applicant has their own preferences, as ExieMITAlum pointed out.

All are great schools. L’ville is huge outside NE. Its campus is amazing and thanks to its connection to Priceton, its matriculation records are impressive to say the least. Taft is somewhat overshadowed by the many big name schools such as Andover in NE.

had the choice between Andover and Lawrenceville and chose Andover. (can’t really speak about Taft) I fell in love with Andover during the revisit day. The teachers, the people, and the campus was incredible. Lawrenceville’s campus is pretty spectacular as well, but I think Andover just felt right for me. I felt like I would get a better education at Andover (this is in NO way saying that you will get a bad education at Lawrenceville). I guess overall it really depends on the individual and what you are looking for in a school.
