I'm a freshman looking to apply for tenth grade in andover and have a few questions

1)I go to a prep school now. Its admission rate is thityish percent, and I am above average. Will this help me?
2)I have "strong" interested in math. I am in ap calc in ninth grade, and got top 10% in competition. Is this dedication? I mean I was told I should express dedication in some area, does this count?
3) do you know how hard it is socially to be a new lower?

Also, I have a 3.65 UW gpa at the school I go to now, however, that puts at the top 25% in a school whose average SSAT score is the same as Andover's, 93. I myself got 93rd percentile: 99 math, 92 reading, and 87 vocab. Do I have a shot?

ehhh why would I be sarcastic? he actually said that it’s a crapshoot for everyone. you only have the basics from what you posted. you need something EXCEPTIONAL rather than many activities (at slightly above average levels) to get into PA.
ap calc in 9th grade is quite exceptional… just a bit. but not enough to get you in.
research a hectic theorem. then you’ll get in.

we’ll see who actually gets accepted. then you can lash me all the hell you want. i most probably won’t get in because it’s a crapshoot for EVERYONE so probability states that a lot of us with similar stats on this forum and elsewhere won’t get in.
We think that we’re at the top just because we’re using this forum but I’m telling you there are kids standing on us.

scales don’t just say that I’m lying.

I dare you to ask YOUR interviewer what your chances and everyone else’s is. if they say otherwise, I’ll repent. But for the time being I’m sticking to the script while you peeps skip scenes like these.

Oh I understand well. We are standing under some other excellent students.
There ARE in fact complex admissions procedures like: diversity etc. and future goals, private/ public school, gender, legacy, donations, FA etc. But you do need the basics of applying to PA.

Legacies have a notable advantage though not all of them are accepted.

SnapePotter: even though you’re right about all of that, it’s going to significantly hurt your chances of getting in if you have that kind of mentality. You have to be confident, especially in your interview. Regardless of what your interviewer said, if you interviewed with as little confidence as your expressing right now then you have no chance of getting in.

The basic are good grades and a good enough test scores, all the rest is subjective, thats why the interview, essays, and recommendations are important, not just being excellent in a EC, shoot a person who won the international math championship but has a horrible attitude wouldn’t get in.

I understand you need to like bring world peace to get into harvard… but I mean all of andover can’t be legacies, urms, and progidies. I mean yeah there is like a one in nine admission rate, but some people msutve messed up the interview, had bad grades, etc…

And yeah I’m sure a lot of kids mess up the interviews but there are still so many applying that didn’t. Also, even if you don’t have a horrible attitude in an interview then an interviewer can usually still tell if you aren’t confident, they’re usually smart people.
