I already posted this somewhere but realized it belongs over here. Has anyone gotten accepted into Cal Poly Slo RD for Animal Science? And then if you were accepted earlier, what were your stats?

I also applied to animal science, but I havent gotten anything back yet. I hope we find out soon! And aslo what were your GPA, and sat scores?

I'm guessing you'd like to be a vet?

Yes. And unfortunately not that great. A 3.54 and a 1190 on the SATs. 620 Math and 570 critical reading. I go to a very competitive HS. However animal science is under agriculture which is one of the easiest areas to get into so I'm crossing my fingers.

don't worry, any major in the ag college is way easier to get into.

But I was wondering, don't vet school and medical schools have pretty much the same prequisites? Because I was wondering if I should apply for animal science to get in, rather than biological sciencess.

I would assume so considering most colleges only have biological sciences and not animal science, but don't quote me on that. I am trying to be an equine vet, so we will see what happens!

collegegoer I have twins who both applied RD under animal science. One found out that first day a week and a half ago the other is still waiting. The one who found out has a 4.04 gpa and a 1230 SAT. The one who is still waiting has a 3.7 and a 26 ACT.

Best of luck to you!

I found out last week (got in for Animal Sciences)... I have approximately a 3.2 GPA, 1990 SAT (610 M, 750 CR, 640 W), 30 ACT.

I also held a leadership position, worked 20+ hours per week, and it was related to my major.

to historymom, I find it weird that one of the twins heard back already and one didn't.

When you think about it, it makes sense. It's not like Cal Poly is a small LAC where their admissions counselor would have met them and would know that they were twins. They both went into the general soup of applicants and I wouldn't really expect that just because they are sisters that they would hear in the same wave.

collegegoer: The SAT I posted for my accepted D was just math and cr.

that's what I figured. I have ride horses so that applies and I also have taken classes that apply to my major. congrats to everyone that has gotten in!

to historymom, I think your other daughter will get in. Animal science isn't as competitive as architecture or some engineering.

I got in early decision for animal science with an 1800 SAT and 26 ACT

Thanks KoreanBoi

Good Luck collegegoer. My D who is in is interested in the horse breeding program and vet school down the road. How about you?

luckyducky what was your GPA when you applied?

I think it was a 3.8
