Is the campus located within the city? How close to campus are the fun things to do (movies, clubs, restaurants etc) and are they easily accessible or should one have a car?

Main Campus is embedded within the city, you’ll have a hard time figuring out where campus ends and Ann Arbor begins. North Campus, where some freshman housing is, is a 5 minute shuttle ride to main campus, it can be walked on nice days.

You do not want a car. Parking is non-existent and one of the major revenue producing programs for the city of Ann Arbor seems to be Parking Tickets.

95% of the place you want to be for fun are within a 10-15 minute walk of the diag.

Campus is basically within the city of Ann Arbor.

Ann Arbor Scene:
You have the college town, nightlife, you have the antique shops, and brick walls, though overall it’s a great college town… and is often ranked in top 10.

If you have a parking spot, you want a car…in 2.5 years at school, I’ve only gotten one ticket in AA

dsmo- actually, depending on your location, you can get mega $$ by “renting out” your spot on game days and other days.

My grandfather just visited last weekend and all he had to say about Ann Arbor was “Except for New York City, I’ve never seen a city with so many places to eat!!!” And my mother said, “Geez, it looks like nobody starves in this town!” Believe me, Ann Arbor has a lot to offer as well besides food.

Yeah I agree. Columbia was the only place that could match the food that exists at Michigan.
