Other than attending class, mids were nowhere to be seen. They were told to draw their shades and not peek out the windows!

Son reports today there are a "ton" of people in sunglasses, suits and earpieces on the Yard. Many, many black SUV-motorcades.

He said it was a "pain in the neck" to have to detour around Memorial Hall, where most of the meetings were taking place. They aren't including the mids in any of the speeches, etc., so he's a little grumpy about that.

Is it over today, or going on through Wednesday?

The specific plans for the conference is labeled as Official Use Only....

That means:

Your sons/daughters SHOULDN'T be discussing the SPECIFICS about these plans with anyone OTHER THAN Naval Academy personnel.

The information isn't classified but is not suppose to be passed on.

Over today. Normal class schedule tomorrow. Can see pictures at:

Thanks for sharing the Reuters' photos. Memorial Hall is a somber yet spectacular setting for the meetings.

Photo #104 is a nice shot of Memorial Hall.

Don't miss these!

We heard from our son briefly last night, we were obviously relived to hear the conference went off without any incidents. He mentioned an upperclassman was out and about earlier in the day while a helicopter landing and paused for a moment to watch the landing and then noticed the rotor wash was blowing most of the remaining leaves off the surrounding trees….revealing a sharpshooter sitting in one. The sharpshooter apparently looked around and noticed his “cover was blown”.. shrugged and climbed down to find another spot.

Any idea why they choose USNA over say WP? I seem to recall that the president also gave a speech at Annapolis that was nationally televised within the last 2 years. Seems they would rotate around which Academy they hold such highly public events.

One reason was because Annapolis was just a short helicopter ride/motorcade from D.C. where they met on Monday.
