Annika Rodriguez Scholars Program at WashU?

Can anyone give me some information about this program, as far as acceptance goes? I applied for it, being Hispanic, but I have no idea how many are accepted, how many get the full tuition, how many get the half tution, and what determines this. Is there anyone who got accepted to this program on CC?

Any insight would be extremely appreciated.

My notes say that they give out about 30 total (from their website last year). Not sure what the split for full and half is, my assumption is that they determine this based on merit, not need. My D got to the interview stage but didn't attend as she decided to interview elsewhere. However, she did like WUSTL very much when she visited on one of their multicultural days. We also have a friend who was a Rodriguez scholar and graduated a year ago, she really enjoyed her time there and is now doing Teach for America. Good luck.

is this program meant for those of hispanic descent, or for everyone?

I applied as well, but only to that particular scholarship. Anyone know if your chances decrease because of not applying for other scholarships?

I don’t think I’ve ever seen/heard that applying to more scholarships helps. My D1 applied to both the Rodriguez and the Danforth.

I have heard that applying to multiple scholarships helps your chances. Although the reviewing committees are different between scholarships, they are aware of how many you’re applying to. When I spoke to Julia Macias, she told me specifically that Wash-U is looking for people genuinely interested in attending their college, something that would easily be reflected by the number of scholarships you’ve applied to. I think it’s too late for my reply though haha. Let me know how it went!

The member who reopened this thread hasn’t posted since last April, they likely aren’t active here on CC anymore.
