ANNOUNCING SOMETHING NEW FOR THEATER APPLICANTS

For the past three years, some of you have known me as a participant on the ongoing Theater/Drama Colleges Thread on the Arts Colleges forum, or if you read the Colleges For Musical Theater Forum, in my role as a parent of two daughters, one currently a sophomore at Brown University interested in architectural studies and one a freshman at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts’ CAP21 Program (BFA, Musical Theater). I would like to also introduce myself to you now in my other role, and that is as a College Counselor on the College Confidential counseling team, and as the advisor on that team with an expertise in theater college admissions, as well as regular college admissions. In 2003, I earned a certificate in college advising from the College Confidential Adjunct-Counselor Training Program and have been counseling prospective families and their students ever since. I have over twenty-five years experience in the field of education, from elementary to undergraduate and graduate education. I have also been conducting college admissions interviews for ten years as an alumnus of my college. I received a BA in Child Study from Tufts University and an Ed.M. from The Harvard Graduate School of Education. My experience with the college admissions process includes the roles of educator, interviewer, counselor, and parent. My college admissions expertise includes, but is not limited to, selective college admissions and performing arts degree programs.

In addition to the college counseling services and packages that CC already offers, we have added a new package for clients applying to theater programs as it is a specialized admissions process with many added facets in terms of selection of schools, as well as the audition process for admission. To learn more about these services, and for help with the college admissions process, please go to: http://www.collegeconfidential.com/college_counseling/index.htm.

While that link takes you to an overview of the counseling services, you need to click on the link lower down on the page that reads: "College Counseling Services from College Confidential" to read about the specific services, packages and fees, including the new theater package.

I will continue to participate on the CC forums as a parent (as SoozieVT) as in the past, sharing personal experiences, being a friend, and trying to be helpful as well. I will still answer general questions about Musical Theater or Drama college programs, but if someone needs additional assistance on their individual case, I will suggest for you to consider the counseling services offered by College Confidential in this area.

I look forward to continuing to participate on the forum and have made many friendships here that I wish to continue. I also wanted to make you aware of the counseling services that I do as an advisor with College Confidential should you find you'd like such assistance.

Regards,
Susan

Congrats Soozivet!. I think you will be great at doing college counseling. You were always had thoughtful, incisive posts. It will be hard to picture you as part of the management when you were part of the parent/participants for so long.

Thank you taxguy. Actually this is not a new role for me. I have been a counselor for CC for over two years but have been participating as a parent on the forums for over three years. I will still be participating as a parent on here but now you know my other job. I am simply letting people know about that but also that we have added a new theater counseling package.

I'm still me though. I'm still a parent and by the way, I am not on the management team, simply am a college advisor at CC. Also for the record, since lots of people get my posting name mixed up.....it is SoozieVT.....when I signed up for CC over three years ago, I entered my name that way but it came out on the forum as all lower case and lots of people, including yourself, mix up the lettering. It is Soozie (some call me Susie or Suzy in regular life) and VT is cause I live in Vermont. Now ya know that too :D.

Whoops, I obviously can't spell your name. :)
Thanks for the clarification. If the amount of theater and drama postings are any indication of the general interest of the public, you should be busy indeed.

Congrats, Soozievt

I know that you will be an added plus to those seeking advice and direction. ! appluad you on your efforts and enthusiazm to make a difference. With your personal backgorund as a mother and with children in the musical and drama areas of study, one couldn't find a better representation!!!

I'm brand new to this whole site. How do I ask you, Soozievt, a specific question?

Hi Roxyanne, I am sorry I missed your message as I was out of town going to Parent Weekend at my daughter's school this past weekend (NYU/Tisch). I just saw your post. If you want you can post a question here. If you feel it is of a personal nature or about counseling, you can click email me at susant@collegeconfidential.com. Also, you can click right on my posting name "SoozieVT" that you see in blue and it will show you how you can email me or send me a private message. Either way, hope to hear from you.
