Someone said above that they have no competition. That is not true, they have each other. At least for the main testing (CB has a monopoly on CSS profile and AP). They do compete fiercely. ACT had gone through a lot of growth lately due to their push to have state legislatures require all students to take the ACT at state expense.
The NCAA Clearinghouse has no competition and the level of service is pretty bad. The secretary at our high school said every year they send in about 20 transcripts, in the same package, and every year about half of them are ‘lost’ in the ncaa mail room. Of course my daughter’s were lost. When I called the ncaa, the woman said ‘well you should SEE how many pieces of mail we receive.’ Um, it’s your job! That’s what we pay the $75 for, for you to sort mail.
