Everyone knows that Chance forum is saturated with kids who chance others but can’t chance their own ones.
What annoys me even more is when a mere high school kid argues back at another poster who is actually very knowledgeable about certain colleges or college admissions in general, or even say “ignore the above” or call them “uninformed” or “misinformed”. God!
What do you think of this kind of situation??
At our house, it’s called “Another evening at the dinner table.”
Why is that? It sounds fun
I treat the Chances forum as more of a game to alleviate stress. If you find it annoying, don’t venture there?
I never ever ever ever go into that forum. Thus, I am never annoyed by threads, posters or chancers within it. Works for me.
Yeah I agree, those threads are pretty annoying.
At the same time, I can’t really blame them. They’re anxious about their choices and acceptances, and probably need some validation and as @OrchidBloom said, need to alleviate stress. This is a college forum and I guess this is expected to happen.
The Chances forum isn’t very useful, but I understand where this comes from. It’s difficult to “objectively” evaluate yourself.
Would it be OK if I start tr0lling them? Pretty please? I’ll do a really good job, I promise!
Some posters in that forum feel threatened by the excellent test scores and ECs of the OPs who make the Chance threads so they try to belittle them lol
Yeah there are people who say AIME qualification or USAMO is ‘generic’.
That forum exists as a “red light district” to attract the garbage to one place.
@GMTplus7
So, basically this scene from Hot Shots 2?

Chance threads are the gar/b/age of CC, which is why you don’t look at or post in them.
You don’t want to become one of “those people…”
When people are nervous, they have to do something so a lot of them post to the “Chances” threads to try to basically occupy themselves.
Honestly, whenever I talk to anyone younger than me (I’m a senior) about college, I ask them if they know what CC is. Regardless of their answer, I tell them that they’ll probably come across it when Googling, but to never go into “Chance” threads and stuff like that. Much better to ask me or talk to a knowledgable guidance counselor (if one is available) about college chances and improving them than some neurotic sophomore from NY.
Along the same lines, for anyone reading this, I would definitely recommend not joining the “_____ Applicants 20XX” Facebook groups for top-tier colleges. It will only infuriate you.
