Im almost done with with freshman year and im so happy that next year i have my own room. First semester i roomed with one of my friends and it was great. However, the next semester i transferred and now im stuck with one of the most inconsiderate person ever. I literally think he never heard of headphones because he plays music all the time and watches vines out loud. I don’t understand why. At night when he leaves he just turns the lights off on me even when im clearly studying so i have to turn them back on. The first week he was using my soap. He stopped. Then this week he used my hair products and put it in his cabinet. He has a friend who’s equally annoying and tends to put his crap on my bed or desk. Then one day im sleeping around 5pm taking a nap. If he sleeps I’ll tell my friends not to come in here and lets hang elsewhere to be respectful. Not my roommate. He brings his friend and then he plugs a freakin amp to his laptop and starts playing netflix movies while watching espn and playing vines for the next 2 hours. I have no idea why he is such a jerk like that. Have you guys ever had something like this? I wanna hear any stories.
Oh and a side note. Neither him or his friend know how to close a door. They leave the bathroom door open and even the room door open sometimes…
Most people in college act like they were born in barns. Blame the parents.
Have you tried talking to him?
“I have to study…can you put headphones on?”
“Dude, I am still here!” (Although this is probably a habit)
“Can you tell your friends not to put stuff on my bed?” (or put a covering on your bed)
<put his="" friend’s="" stuff="" on="" bed="">
Just be firm, but friendly.
Actually, people who were really raised in a barn are usually the first to close the door.
OP, just calmly tell your roommate what’s on your mind. Bopper has some good suggestions.
Well for dome strange reason. He stopped doing all these things by himself. Weird but whatever lol
*some
Maybe he saw this post, lol
My freshman dorms were three-person suites, each with a private bedroom. You’d think that’d be enough privacy, right?
Nope. Roommate #1 blasted worship music all freaking night. He got noise complaints from both the people right next to us and the people right above us. That shut him up for about a good week or so.
Roommate #2 had loud sex every night – as in loud enough to wake me up at 3 am. Sometimes he doesn’t even close his door. One time I had to wake him up for a class we had together, and his door was wide open. I saw way too much that morning :S
Being a friend/acquaintance and being roommate is a completely different question; you never know what s/he does until you live with him.her…
