Does anyone else hate it when someone says "bump" on their own thread, or just after one of their posts?

Maybe it's just me, but it seems a bit pretentious.

well sometimes people just lazily dont reply to some posts but if u notice after people bump their threads they get loads of replies!!! so I think its a good strategy!

yeah, it gets pretty annoying.

Pretty annoying.

bbump.

I couldn't resist.

Well, I bumped one of my own threads because a week after I made it I still didn't have the answer to my question and it had fallen 3 pages back.

if they havent gotten any responses in awhile, its one thing. but when you bump every 10 minutes, you're gonna **** everyone off.

I think this is a pretty stupid thread, no I don't think it's stupid when people bump their own thread. How is that pretentious? Who else is going to bump it? Like for chances threads people want to know their chances, and are typically hyperventilating most of the time about college and understandably want to knwo more about where to apply or their chance of being accepted.

It's less about OPs bumping their own threads than it is about them bumping them the second the threads are no longer in the top 5 spots..

I, for one, always look at the first full page with no new replies, in case there is something interesting that has been forced back a little.

Conservative bumping is fine, but yes, the frequency of some people's bumping seems almost rude, as if you're force-feeding your topic to CCers.

bump
/* asd;kljfdslkdsldsads;ljads;lk */

One of my threads was deleted by DoveOfPeace and he clearly said that bumping wasn't allowed

I understand bumps. The poster may be asking a question that they need an answer to, but, like kryptonsa said, it shouldn't be done obsessively. I've seen a thread that was bumped 30 minutes after it was created, for example.

I think if it's only once, and if the poster thinks it has the potential of being important, it's okay. Like if it's an urgent personal question, or something that will affect a large number of people. But if it's dumb or supposed to be funny, then I don't agree.

i don't mind it. there's a lot of posters on CC so it's easy to get your topic lost down the line.

Annoying? Did someone say my name? :D

Bump diddy bumpity BUMP.....
