Don't the schools already know the general range of the student's scores, from the lists that they buy from the College Board? Many schools have been sending my dd recruitment letters saying that they got her name from the College Board. The letters certainly imply that the school is aware that her scores were high.

If a school has already sent dd this type of mail, and if she has already demonstrated interest in the school by visiting, then how much added advantage is there in naming this school as one of the two to which College Board will send letters?
