another ap self study thread

Ok here goes

I am going to self study Macro and Micro Econ and Humna geography .

(and BC calc)

what is the BEST study guide --one that I will ENTIRELY rely on ---for those tests?

barrons?

Economics = PR
Human Geo. = Barrons
BC Calc= dont know

I am pretty sure of the books. I did alot of research on the books and the amazon ratings show an overwhelming satisfaction on these books. btw, I am self studying Maco, Micro, and Human Geo. We're on the same boat dude! Good Luck!

I hear Arco is good for Calc. I'm doing the same thing as you, self study macro and micro, but not human geo. I'm taking a class for AB calc, but hopefully learning the BC portion on my own so I can take the BC exam.

calc BC i took it and barrons is good.

econ use PR and barrons

When you say self-study are you studying the textbook or just the review notes and things? I might self-study, but I don't exactly understand.

why would you guys want to self study more ap classes?

AP awards.

I self studied two last year and I'm going to do one (or two for back-up) so I can be a National AP Scholar next year. Oh, and I got AP Scholar sophomore year :).

I think people mainly self-study because they have a scheduling conflict like not enough spaces open to take many A.P. classes. Also I am going to do that so then I can avoid some of the work and just learn the things. Like instead of doing essays in some classes you just learn the material.

i actually want to get the "credit" for it haha
..silly me

PLUS, i wanna show adcoms what i'm capable of

Yeah, you are silly.

I was actually planning on self studying Environmental Science because it's my intended field of interest, and then - according to my planned junior year schedule - I only needed to self study one more, so I did Bio. But now I have a scheduling conflict for next year, and I have to self study another exam.

I'm banking on credit, too, though. It's just that most schools don't give credit for exams like Enviro, and Calc AB doesn't count if you take Calc BC anyway (etc, etc).

y am i silly?
i self studied comparative gov and env. science and got 4s on them
(close to getting credit >_<.wharton accepts 5s only argh!)

but econ ..almost every university accepts as credit

I was being sarcastic. I guess the italics weren't obvious enough :P.

oh

:P
haha

i wonder why others do it, too.
i took 8 tests May of this year, at first to be a nat'l scholar (silly me...jumping on the band-wagon), but now that I think of it, if you were going to a state school (maybe for me), opting out of those classes and taking the credit could really shave a year of college off of your life. perhaps graduate in 3 yrs. like as of now, i calculated that i could take credit for 1/3 of the graduation requirement for UW-Madison.
