Any advice on what to wear for auditions? My D is auditioning for MFA programs at the end of January.

You should wear what looks good on you, and whatever color suits you.
I would not go out and purchase a new outfit to go to my daughter’s audition. I wore what I thought my daughter would like me wearing. Dress for comfort, that makes you feel good.
Good luck to you and your daughter. Have fun!

I didn’t mean me–my D will go by herself to the auditions. I may meet her in NYC after her auditions there, because I love visiting NYC. My questions was what do the applicants usually wear? My D didn’t apply to any BFA programs so she’s never done this type of audition. She’s working on her monologues with a coach, but mentioned that she wasn’t sure what to wear and was going to ask her coach about it.

I am also auditioning for MFA programs soon. is your daughter attending the URTAs? Does she have a set of clothes that she typically wears to auditions? (whether at her current school or outside auditions). What about the type of clothes she wore in her headshots? I plan on wearing something comfortable but slightly dressy, probably not a dress and not jeans either (unless they’re dark wash)… something that’s flattering to my body but I can still move in and colors that look good on me, nothing too bright but not all black either. I hope that helps a little… I haven’t actually decided what I’m wearing yet. :)

I guess it didn’t translate.
I knew it was the daughter you were talking about, but the way you asked… left an opening to have some fun.
When my child auditioned for college there were others there auditioning for masters, they looked older and dressed more maturely than my daughter. They looked professional, while my daughter looked high school. Generally makes sense to look as great and comfortable as possible. Be herself, there is no one else that can do that.
