Another Business Vs. Economics Thread

dHard science majors see many opportunities in business once they have a MBA. They can get management type positions for all types of science related companies.

If all you have is a B.S. in a hard science then it gets harder.

The difficult business concentrations like accounting, finance, management information systems and operations usually require you to have a related degree so maybe econ/math for accounting/finance, computer science/ computer engineering for MIS and industrial engineering for operations.

In order to get into these jobs you need the specific degree or related degree. The harder the job is the more education you need.

For the easier business concentrations a hard science major will have a better chance. These concentrations include human resources, marketing, management etc.

At the end it comes down to experience. If you have expereince in the field and you meet the minimum requirements you have a shot.

Thanks a lot!!

Good choice. Econ is more broad.

OK Take my example ... I do a BS in Computer Science from Dartmouth(if I get in!!) with minors in Economics and Physics ... will I land up a good job(upward of say 50000$) ... oh and i am an intl .... Thanks!
