Applying priority, but I don't know if I really have a chance. I was dealing with depression (Even now I'm still doubting myself haha... ) before I found my true interests in the middle of high school.

First generation student wanting to major in Computer Science
UW: 3.4
W: 3.6
SAT: scores aren't out yet, but pretty positive CR+M is at least 1300+ (Based on earlier scores)

APs : Computer Science - 4 (Even though the benchmark is a 5, can I skip some basic classes? I'm pretty proficient in the languages/concepts already..)

Course load (Senior year) :
AP Chem
AP Bio
AP Chinese
AP Calc
AP Stats
Eng Honors
Comp Sci 4

Clubs:
Badminton, Anime

My essays will probably be strong? at least on a personal level (basing them on my management of depression and my progress so far in the journey to success)

I am also applying to UMD, it helps if you are in state. Your GPA is below the average of incoming freshmen. And there should be a big differentiation between UW and W GPA. Hopefully, you show an increasing trend throughout your HS career.

Test scores are average with incoming freshmen, and your senior classes are good. But the obvious question is how are you taking so many classes. AP biology and chemistry is normally a two period class for most high schools. So it shows that those APs are not the most rigorous.

Work on essays, try to convey your personality, make yourself unique and avoid genetic responses.

If you are interested, you should look into UMBC. It is also a good college, and you have a better shot at getting in compared to UMD.

AP Bio and Chem are available as single 50-minute periods that you attend everyday and we still get all of the materials covered (The teachers are pretty great in their respective subject areas)

I’m just applying to UMBC and UMCP, but I really want to get into CP
