Yet another chance thread! Going to major in history and/or public policy, perhaps look into classics. Chicago is my number 1 dream school. :)

Thanks!

Your ECs look pretty solid, especially if you’re planning on continuing with varsity sports at UChicago.

However, the odds of being admitted with a 3.5 GPA and 27 ACT are very low. I’m not saying it can’t happen, but statistically it’s a long shot. I’d plan on at least cracking the 32-33 range, though keep in mind people with 36s get rejected every year.

Remember to have fun senior year, especially with those essays! ;)

Yeah I’m getting a tutor and retaking in September. I’m excited for senior year! I think my essays will be good. I did great on my interview, as well.

Well, I think most people would agree with dunbar.

I suggest you contact the football coach and see if you can get recruited. Otherwise your chances are very slim since your gpa is still going to be quite low and I doubt that you will be able to improve your ACT to a 33-34+. However, your extracurriculars are very solid.

I don’t know that I am athletic enough to play even at the DIII level, I am going to the one day camp this summer to try and see if it’s possible though. I am trying to get to a 31+. I realize it’s a longshot, but I loved UC and hope it works out!

Recruitment won’t matter if you don’t have the stats to get in, and the OP just plain doesn’t. Coaches don’t get spots in the Class.

Coaches don’t get spots in the class, but they do have some influence. If you don’t have a shot it won’t help, but if you’re a borderline case often a coach’s rec will push you in. So definitely try to get recruited, and hope that someone decides to look past that GPA.
