Here's what I"m going to say, you have a freaking 35 on your ACT, #1 in ur class, and a 4.0...that's great, except, everyone else probably has something similar. You're a good applicant...but so is everyone else, good luck

What can you do to improve? Where I come from, 1 is the best you can do and a 4.0 unweighted is the highest GPA possible. Maybe you can join 10 more clubs and give up all your free time, and blowing an admissions officer couldn't hurt. What did you expect from this thread? Some chances threads are annoying but well-intentioned; this screams of begging for praise, sorry.

Damn, that was harsh, I know.

all i have to say is, shut the **** up.

Haha, is that directed at the original poster or at me?

Sorry, I'm not begging for praises. I just wanted to get some idea if I was competitive or not. At the school where I'm at, most kids go to college, however most just go to state schools. I don't think any have gone to ivy league or other competitive colleges. I was more wondering if my extracurriculars and volunteer experiences were okay, and I don't think I have many leadership positions... Thanks so much for everyones replies, and sorry again, I'm not looking for praises!

Hey, it's not your fault, it's just that there's been a lot of chances threads on the northwestern board from people who are very well qualified and sometimes it gets a little tiring. Although, rest assured, you look safe.

You look like you're interested in music... You've come looking at the right school. Northwestern's music department is extremely strong. I'm an instrument teacher too - violin, I think it's really fun, and it's cool to see another teacher. Alright, good luck! Write a strong "Why Northwestern" essay for sure though.
