Another chances thread, srry guys, I tried to wait as long as possible

Um, please don't ask why I have all reaches and just 2 safeties. I have my reasons. Anyway here it goes:

ED: Upenn (Wharton)
EA: MIT (Sloan)

RD:
-NYU (Stern)
-Princeton
-Stanford
-Yale
-Columbia
-Dartmouth
-Duke
-Rutgers (free ride)
-TCNJ (free ride)

Stats:

SAT I: 2220 (800 M, 740 V, 680 Writing
, retaking in Oct., hopefully will at least break 2300 this time)

SAT II: 780 IIC, 780 US hist, 750 bio (taking IC, physics, and chinese in Nov., expecting 800 or close to 800 on all three)

GPA/class rank: 4.0 unweighted, at least top 10 out of 650

EC:

-VP, Prez of student council, and principal's advisor at Chinese school (worked my way up through the 3 yrs; I'm getting a strong rec. letter from the principal about all my leadership, management skills, commitment, etc.)
-also chief editor for the school newspaper freshman year
-summer camp counselor freshman and sophmore year for Chinese school Youth Camp
-top ranked in the state in Bio and Chemistry competitions in the New Jersey Science League
-NHS, Spanish NHS (tutoring, fundraisers, etc.)
-JV Track and XC for 2 yrs (state champs freshman year, had to quit though due to my physician's warning, major shin problem)
-Concerts for Cancer (was on the committee for one of the biggest fundraisers ever in our school)
-class cabinet (3 yrs, headed several fundraising committees)
-volunteered at local library (100 hrs-received an award for dedication)
-volunteered at Senior home (50 hrs)

and if you couldn't tell, I'm going to major in business/finance/economics, and perhaps double-major in psycology if I can handle the course load.

man, you picked some tough schools to guess chances for.

i can't tell you anything you don't already know--

-bring up your writing; I got an 800 on that section on my first try, and I would reccomend just reading through a standard MLA handbook.

other than that, you're very much in the running...good luck!

do you have any business experience at all? These schools u are applying to are some of the best in the nation. Admissions officers at these schools have applicants with your stats and business experience.

I hear that plenty of ppl get in w/o business experience. What I've learned is that they value leadership and commitment over a summer internship at a bank.

Believe me, people have business experience.

how do you get business experience?

I really don't think because of daddy's connections, you get an internship at a bank, filing paper and crap really qualifies as business experience. And why would they stress business experience so much. Isn't that what their school's for. Besides, I really dont think, although there are those extremely talented young entrpreneurs, that anyone actually really has "business" experience.

You'll be able to get into about any school you want to apply to with those great GPAs and Test Scores. Just make sure you bring out your ECs and your Essay in your application.

Good luck!

Can you apply both EA and ED? I didn't think so, but I may be wrong...

You can, but you have to make sure you know the policies of the schools you're applying to. For example, MIT isn't single-choice EA, so you can apply to as many other schools early as you want. But Stanford, Yale, and Harvard are.

but i dont think you can apply to penn ED w/ MIT EA..

why can't I? If I'm accepted by Penn ED, then I withdrawl my app from MIT. That's how ED works

i always thought ED was SCED as well....

You can totally apply penn ED w/ MIT EA.
EA is nonbinding!

njchino, you have a lot of leadership... what I found out was (i'm applying to wharton too) that it's extremely difficult to get "internships" without connections by your parents. AFter all, who would want a high school student, when they've got plenty of college students applying for internships

ED: Upenn (Wharton) 30%
EA: MIT (Sloan) 35%

RD:
-NYU (Stern) 75%
-Princeton 15%
-Stanford 15%
-Yale 15%
-Columbia 30%
-Dartmouth 20%
-Duke 25%
-Rutgers (free ride)
-TCNJ (free ride)

dooit- thank you, exactly my point.

ctsurgery- are those your prediction of my chances?

bumpty bumpty bump...
