Another chances thread :\

I just visited Brandeis (although it is not in session) and it looks AMAZING. It made me think of the term “reach school” differently - instead of that it would be a reach for Brandeis to accept me, I would have to “reach” to fit in there - but in a good way, that would mean lots of positive changes in my life, and becoming a better and more socially conscious person as well as more social in general, heh heh.

I would be ecstatic to attend although I don’t think I can get in. WHICH IS WHERE YOUR OPINIONS COME IN!!! =D

SATs: ~2250 (223 on PSAT).
SAT IIs: something like 700, 750, 780. I took the Latin SAT II after a year of Latin (this is last year) and got 730, I am thinking that will be my highest score once I retake it.

GPA: 3.3 unweighted. I know, “ack”. ^^; My school, while public, is prestigious at least in MA and is mentioned in Michele Hernandez’s (outdated?) book as a school that they look at GPA differently for since it’s, uh, hardcore.

Schedule: I have taken all Honors classes when possible, except this year, I am taking normal-level Precalculus after getting a C in Honors Geometry. Will contine on normal-level Calc track next year.

APs: 5 on bio, 5 on World History.
Taking chem, english, and US history this year. Expecting 4-5s as I am good at multiple choice :stuck_out_tongue:
Will take one or two in senior year.

Essay: Probably below average. I am not an awesome writer or an amazing person in the sense colleges are looking for

Recs: I know one will be good, other will probably be okay.

ECs: Karate (Brown belt - may test for black by admissions xD), Amnesty International (2 hr time commitment/week), Humor Magazine Club, Best Practices (student run club about improving education at my high school), volunteering at the library. In sophomore year I took a Harvard Extension School class in Latin Literature (Ovid) and got a B+.

Awards: Various 1st-3rd place multiple choice language exam awards in Latin and Spanish, National Merit Semifinalist, a few karate tournament awards. (These are pretty ridiculous, one is 1st place in a division of two people. XD)

Summers: I didn’t do anything freshman and sophomore year, except for freshman year I independently studied the Latin II curriculum and skipped into Latin III. This summer I’m going to get a full-time job.

Possible concentrations: Spanish Language, Classics, Biochem, Education. I want to be a teacher but I’m not sure of the subject.

THANK YOU TO ALL RATERS! :)

ur in at brandeis

your SAT is great, but, as you are aware, your GPA is a bit lower than what Brandeis looks for. Nevertheless, you still have a good shot because Brandeis really wants to see unique individuals who contribute to their school and community. I'm glad you saw what I discovered after a semester and a half- Brandeis is an awesome place!

GOOD LUCK!

i think that u have a great shot. I got in with a 3.4 and SATs about 100 points lower.
