Another chances thread...

Hi all. Before this begins I would like to apologize in advance if there are any formatting issues, I'm on mobile. Here we go!

Essays should be pretty good along with 1 of my teacher recommendations, not sure how good the other one will be. Counselor should be generic but good.

Awards: School Chemistry Student of the Year, NHS

I am a white male from a upper-middle class family.

Another thing to note: When the Admissions Counselor came to visit our school we talked quite a bit about Midd, then when I visit the campus about a month later she recognized me by name. Could this affect anything?

Thanks so much!

I say like many people on this site you have a solid chance.

I’d say you have a 25-30% chance (due to the fact that you don’t necessarily have any stellar EC + Middlebury is competitive)

As for the Admissions counselor knowing your name, it isn’t a bad thing but unless you did something to really stand out it isn’t going to help that much.

Good luck!

I don’t know what Cool Boy knows, but I rank you higher. Your grades and STEM skills put you ahead of many LAC candidates, those ACT scores are fab, and Midd loves the ACT. PLUS you don’t come from the NE. This will help you…How about a little community service? I give you better than 3:4, and if the counselor remembered you, you must be charming or very strange…If A, that’s also good. Show the love, have a good essay and push the science angle

Thanks for the encouragement! I definitely bonded with the counselor, and I think she likes me.

I do have community service (about 60 hours of various things including coaching youth ultimate and soccer.)

@OldbatesieDoc‌ Would you say a background/interest in STEM helps for LAC admissions?
