Another Chances Thread

I'd also like to know my chances if anyone can help me out. SAT scores are kinda low but I'm hoping my extracurriculars will help out. RPI is my #1 choice as of now. Oh, and does RPI offer scholarships to females? When I went to visit, that's what one of the female tour guides said.

I'm a female, Asian. Interested in biomedical engineering. Anyone know anything about that?

Thanks in advance!

You should be fine. And yes I believe they give pretty good $$ scholarships, maybe more so to females.

Good luck.

You have nice stats. RPI will be glad to have you as a student. Yes, they do give lost of $$ to girls to help improve the male/female ratio. Friend of mine's daughter received almost free ride plus a free laptop! good luck! Did you receive the RPI Medal and have you gotten on their mailing list?

I'm on their mailing list but no RPI medal...I think my school gave it to someone who has no intention of going into engineering. Does RPI still give money even to non-medal winners?

It all depends on your EFC from the FAFSA. My first son won the medal and is there presently as a senior and they did not give him anymore $$. My second son won the medal was accepted (but is going to go elsewhere with more $$) and did not get anymore $ either but I do believe it could be b/c of our FAFSA EFC. So that does come a bit into play but they do (and I have seen them) ease the ropes alot for females so you shouldn't worry. Get ahold of your adcom at RPI for your region and speak with that person and ask them. They will be very happy to answer you and then keep in contact with them. Have you gone to any open houses yet?

Also go back and read the Rensselaer Medal thread here for a bit of info.

RPI gives out money to non-medal winners. My friend was the medal winner, but i am the one who actually wanted to go. I did get money from them: Emily Roebling Scholarship, which is only for females (multiple people get it). Also there is a leadership scholarship (multiple people get this one too). I know there are some others. They have a website which gives all of the different sholarships they offer but i'm not sure how many there are.
