<p>I attend a Catholic High School in New Jersey. I want to know my chaces for attending Carnegie Mellon.</p>

<p>I am in the top 10% of my class (I think my rank is 20/241)

<p>I started my own service project ("The Spare Change Project") It has been featured in a couple of newspapers. I have also recieved an award from my community for helping the hungry.</p>
<p>I play the bagpipes (I know CMU has a pipe band). I have recieved awards in various contests.</p>
<p>I was MVP of my school's Academic Decathlon team. I won honorable mentions in Speech and Social Science. I also had the highest scoring essay (on Astronomy) in the contest, winning the gold medal.</p>
<p>yup. but i think that this is going to be a year where SAT scores aren't going to be weighted as heavily as previous years. unless i missed a memo, you guys are the first class to really be put to the test, so to speak. the original SAT had been out for so long that they had a measuring stick for it, but this is and new and still needs to be de-bugged... your best bet is to raise them, of course, but stay active and keep your grades up. CMU randomly admits students, like other schools, so don't get too worried if you don't get ur SAT to a perfect score. good luck when you apply. What college did you want to apply to?</p>
