I am a guy that is moving into my freshman dorm this Wednesday. I know this question has been asked before, but it wouldn’t hurt for a couple more opinions. Did I pack enough/too much?
I picked out 8 shirts (one of which works as a dress shirt). I picked out 7 pair of shorts/a few pairs of jeans. I will be taking a pair of sneakers and a pair of flip flops. I am not athletic, so I don’t need to worry about athletic clothes. I also am taking 10 pairs of socks/boxers. I plan on doing laundry once a week, so did I pack enough/too much? Thank you.
I think it’s always good to have an extra pair of sneakers in the event yours get wet or something. Seem fine on shorts, socks and underwear. Seem a little short on shirts if 8 is both t shirts and long sleeve shirts. And what about jackets?
How about a sweater for when a sweatshirt isn’t neat enough, a sweatshirt (unless you are planning to buy a school sweatshirt). One pair of dress pants and a tie maybe? Depending if you are planning to go to career fairs or other things like that.
The school gives us a free sweatshirt the first week. I don’t really wear jackets and my college is only 45 minutes from home in case I need to get one. I may take a few more shirts I guess.
Where are you going to school? In some geographic regions that might be enough in terms of protection from rain and cold, and in some not.
I would, however, say that what you have is good enough for someone who doesn’t exercise and goes to school in a warm, dry place. As a previous poster said, it might be a good idea to bring another pair of shoes in case the others get wet or something, but it is possible to deal with what you’ve got.
That’s about what I pack for a weekend, but to each his own. If you are traveling by plane, you should bring as much as your suitcase can hold without going over the weight limit. If you are traveling by car you should pack it to the roof. That’s just how it’s done.
I guess I’ll take another pair of sneakers. As I stated earlier, I’ll only live 45 minutes away from home in case I forget anything. Thank you for the help.
