Hey guys, as the topic suggests, I'm torn between several great schools that I've recently been accepted into. I know that I'll be receiving a great education from each; however, due to the fact that I will be unable to visit Georgetown, I would like some input from some current students. Basically, my three options in order of interest are 1. Williams College 2. Georgetown College 3. NYU Stern. I understand that Stern is a business school and I would be primarily focused on business; however I'm unsure of exactly what I want to pursue in the future. I have heard that there are not many Georgetown alums located in Long Island (where I currently live and would most likely end up in the future) and also working in Wall Street. A profession in Wall Street is definately an appealing option to me for the future, but I hear that Georgetown alums receive higher success in the Virginia/D.C. area. I would like to hear your input on anything/everything about Georgetown, including the biggest pro's and con's if possible. Thanks again for your input!

Oh, and on a side note I've been offered a SIZEABLE amount of aid from Georgetown (would prefer not to say but just ask and I'll post). I've consulted a college counselor and he's told me that unless I fall in love with Williams during the preview I will attend this weekend that I should definately attend Georgetown.

Well, one thing I can tell you off the bat is that a very large percentage of Georgetown's student body comes from the New York/New Jersey area. I don't know about Long Island per se, but NYC is definitely one of our alumni strongholds - there were probably more Georgetown fans at the basketball game at Seton Hall this year than Seton Hall fans.

Williams, Georgetown, and NYU are all very different experiences: LAC in the mountains vs. medium-sized Jesuit university in the city but with its own campus vs. much larger, non-religious private school smack dab in the middle of Manhattan. To start with, which one of those appeals most to you viscerally?

Well to be perfectly honest, I am drawn to the hustle and bustle of NYC, and having my mommy and daddy real close is a plus =]. I have a good friend in Stern currently, and he says it's "okay." I would consider his personality as very close to mine, and so "okay" would seem mediocre at best. The only turn-offs to Stern are that there is no campus and that independence is an important aspect (not that I have a problem with being responsible). Williams seems the best fit for me at this time because I know I would receive a great LA education in the "#1 liberal arts college" (according to U.S. News rankings), especially sicne I do not know exactly what I would like to do with my future. And also, Williams consitently sends its students to prestigous grad schools. William's downside is it's rural campus location, which is a "hit or miss" for students who visit. On the other hand, Georgetown offers its prestigous name and from what I hear, excellent location. I'm into partying and abide by the "work hard, play hard" ethic, so I feel I will fit in perfectly at Georgetown. To top that off, I have received $52,000 in scholarship/grant money which seems impossible to refuse. My main concern is that I've heard from others that Georgetown grads have a hard time finding work after graduating. Other then that, it's a draw between Williams and Georgetown.

Mmmm...I have not heard that. In any case, I would imagine it depends on the major. I have never known anyone from the MSB (the business school) to have a hard time getting a job. NHS is always in high demand, and SFS students (even the CULP major) seem to do pretty well for themselves as well, in my experience.

Depends on the type of job you're looking for too, I suppose. But since you mentioned Wall Street, the big firms definitely do come and recruit here.

Well, I was accepted into Georgetown College, but I suppose it's not too hard to transfer into SFS or MSB (Not sure)? Is there anything you can tell me about the school itself that you find appealing/unappealing?
