Hello,

I just joined this forum not too long ago and I did my best to search around this board but could not find a satisfactory/updated answer. I apologize in advance if this is a repeated question, but please share your insights with me! Thank you in advance.

Please help me choose between Kelley of IU, UIUC CoB, and UMich Ann Arbor. This will be for undergraduate business programs.

Some factors that are important/relevant to me:
1. I am not exactly sure on which major to pursue. Will finance or accounting prepare me to be a CEO of a company or entrepreneurship? I don't really plan on getting salaries for my career. So perhaps Management? But I heard this was a "joke major".

I intend on going to a prestigious graduate school afterwards.

I live in Illinois. UIUC will be cheaper, but I heard they're raising it by 20%?

As for jobs after college, I intend on staying at Chicago, but I also read that UIUC does not have as high a reputation as IU or UMich in coasts.

Considering these factors and others that you might be aware of, please share your thoughts with me! Which would you recommend that I go to, and why.

If your weighted gpa is 3.8+ and ACT is 30 or higher, you qualify for $9,000 per year from IUB, as well as direct admit (3.7 gpa; 29 ACT) to the Kelley School of Business. This scholarship significantly narrows the price gap between in-state UIUC and OOS Kelley costs. Lots of suburban Chicago kids in Kelley. You have to have all your application materials to IU by Nov. 1 to get the $9,000 scholarship. Also, direct admit to UMich is very hard to get. Average ACT is 33.

Thank you, bthomp1. I am aware of the info. you provided and have applied already! I am just waiting for them to get back.

I just want to hear from some people here on this board which school is recommended to go to.

Wisconsin has an absurd amount of CEO’s (not sure why, but I think it’s because of all the badgers).

All three are good schools and place well in Chicago.

Michigan is the highest ranked, but most expensive.

Indiana is ranked below Michigan but has the best entrepreneurship major, and also comes in second for cost (assuming you don’t get the scholarship, but if you do it is cheaper than Illinois).

Illinois is ranked slightly behind Michigan and Indiana, but is the cheapest.

To be honest, all three are great schools and you should certainly visit all of them to get a sense of what it’s like on campus.
