I always get at least 2 questions wrong in each of the reading sections. I want to cut this down to 3 questions off on the whole reading, but I just don't know what it is that won't allow me to get there. I usually get all the fill in the blanks easily. I can limit the very hard questions down to two answers in CR, but I always end up choosing the wrong one for at least two. I'm tempted to just go against my instincts for the very hard questions, but that feels very unnatural, as you might guess. Any suggestions ? Also, does anyone know with regards to the 11 Practice SATs book by Princeton, how close the CR sections are to the actual tests ? Are the actual collegeboard books substantially closer ? Also, what might the score look like with 6 questions wrong ?

Any thoughts ?

The 11 Practice Tests book by PR is harder than the actual test.

Is it substantially harder in your estimation. Are all areas harder, or just the critical reading ?

Does anyone else agree ?

I don't think the 11 practice tests is that good anyway.

But, does anyone know about the critical reading sections specifically compared to the actual tests ?

I personally didn't see much difference. Maybe they were a little harder; but it was nothing really noticable. But that's me ...

I'm not too sure about the difficulty of the math sections in the PR book, but I noticed that they test more on mathematical knowledge (like knowing formulas) than on mathematical reasoning, which is tested on the real SAT.

As for CR, the passages are more convoluted; they somehow take longer to read than the ones in the actual test. I couldn't manage to complete the sections with two long passages in the PR book in time, but on the actual SAT and the collegeboard blue book, I answered every question in time. The sentence completion questions are about the same as the actual SAT, though.

The essay questions are also tougher, and not so open-ended/less general. As for the writing MCQ, I think the PR questions are easier.

Generally, the PR book is tougher... and less fun to do than the actual SAT and the blue book.
