Another day - another empty mailbox

We're waiting to hear from 5 colleges (private & state) plus 5 city colleges -- PLUS the financial aid package for one of the schools my daughter's is already in and from all those others, should she get in ... (we have an estimated Financial aid package from one and an official one from another).

This waiting is so frustrating - particularly when there is such a short amount of time left to visit the ones she gets into - if she hasn't seen them yet.

Anyone else?

Rachel

Me too! Love my mailbox/hate my mailbox from day to day! I arrive home before my son and I suppose I should leave the mail for him to bring in but I can’t stop myself.
Big decision letter due on Friday/Saturday and also a financial aid letter from another top choice. Can’t wait for this all to be over!

My son applied to 6 schools. He has only heard from his safety, and he doesn’t want go there. He will finally find out from two on Friday online, and two 3/30. One will be by snail mail – the school said they’d probably send out at the beginning of next week. Once it took a letter 9 days to get here from Va so who knows how long it could take… and of course, that is one of his favorite schools. And I am waiting to hear about the financial aid…

When he applied, I thought he’d definitely get into 4 out of 6 but now I’m not so sure.
The fact that many people are apply to 10+schools is scaring me.

Wow, I thought I am the only one out there having a love/hate relationship with the mailbox. Although we expect nothing before the 30th, I still drive my DS crazy by asking if there was anything in the mailbox/email. The suspension is killing me!!! I guess I just want to start getting busy with practical details but there is nothing I can do at this point.

I think we were spoiled when we heard from three schools one after the other - well before the dates their websites said they would be notifying folks … and now we’re just sitting and waiting and wondering whether to schedule airfare to chicago or a drive up to Massachusetts! lol

My daughter asks me a couple of times a day if I’ve checked the mail and if there’s anything for her. I’m not expecting to hear anything before Monday (at least that’s less than a week now!) But I still get nervous at every mail box trip. She’s waiting on seven decisions. Next week should be…interesting.

yeah-waiting on 1 adm decision and 4 FA pkgs. All due by/on Apr 1st. The EA decisions spoiled us and it seems like the spring has been sooooo long!

I know decisions are due by April 1 but are financial packages also due by then?

It really is stressful! I feel like it’s such an emotional time as you hear news almost every day about someone…we also have friends who’ve applied to private high schools and that news was delivered last week-end. We go from highs for our own D or her friends or our friends’ kids to lows for our own D, her friends, etc. etc. I’m exhausted from all the peaks and valleys! D has a wonderful school to attend and is excited about it but has 4 more reach schools to hear from…every day is a nail-biter! I really can’t wait until April 1 when, at least, all the news will be in!

“The waiting is the hardest part” - Tom Petty

Waiting for news about college admissions has nothing on watching your due date come and go! When you’re pregnant, you are anxiously waiting AND uncomfortable. (Both babies 9 days late…)

rachelfran–I don’t know for sure but I found out yesterday that one of DS’s admits will mail merit aid decisions on April 1st. All I can tell you is that I’ve learned everything about various school’s decision/aid dates on CC. Make sure you check in with the school’s thread–someone on there will know and share the info as soon as it’s available.

At this day and age, snail mail is no longer THE WAYto get the verdict on admissions. I still remember back in the 80’s, when I was applying for graduate school, there was no alternative, snail mail is it…

All admits so far have been via snail mail. Any reason to think the rest won’t be too?

S1 got all his decisions so far on line. Snail mail comes later, just as a confirmation plus a lot of propaganda literatures, plus housing stuff.

DS did not opt for email decisions. Does anyone know if we will still see the decisions on the 30th on the admissions websites or would we have to be in anxiety until letters arrive? We have couple of admits so far, both came by mail. I saw on other threads that admissions sites crash that day because so many people are trying to find out their fate. 7 days and counting…

I really prefer mail. My daughter – though online for many hours a day, is NOT an email person.

^My S sits on his notebook constantly (I think he even has it in his bed - lol). I see your point about the snail mail though, I still print out my relevant emails so that I could go over them.

what a surprise … an admission by snail mail today … yay!

Congrats Rachelfran! All that waiting paid off!
