Another eternal struggle

I still can't decide. Mainly between Barnard and NYU.

I've talked to students who have chosen one over the other, on both sides. Call me an "elitist" but I'm curious to know the REAL difference in prestige. I'm trying not to let it cloud my judgement, but not knowing is making the decision harder.

I don't mind that there's not campus at NYU, in fact I love the facilities. I am a little worried about being just a number in CAS, though I hope to transfer to Stern. I come from a very small college prep school with just 46 kids in my graduating class. Both are in NYC, but I like NYUs location better.
I think it's important to note, that Columbia was my first choice. However, I was deferred then rejected. I know Barnard is not Columbia but affiliated. Also, I think the argument that I shouldn't go to Barnard since Columbia was my first choice is irrelevant. I just need some more input on where either of these schools could take me.

Most likely majoring in econ or polysci (I know there's a joint major at Columbia)
However, always wanted to pursue neuroscience (I'm doing my ISP with a neurosurgeon)
Both majors are great at both schools...but is there a major difference?

also, since I know someone will ask, no FA...so I think price is about equal.
