another freshman question -- drop/add date

Sorry, I keep asking basic questions... I can't find a web page where it lists the deadline for drop/add a course! I signed up for western civilization and I just now looked at the books assigned and I am freaking out. I don't have that many assigned books during the entire HS career, let alone one course!!! I think I want to try it for few weeks before deciding to keep or drop. How late can I do that?

The academic calendar has all the information you need.

First day of classes: Aug 30
Last day to drop without W: Sept 14

Last day to add isn’t listed but is always the day before drop date (unless it’s the day after drop date) so Sept 13

[Academic Calendar | Arts & Sciences](Academic Calendar | Arts & Sciences)

http://m.artsci.wustl.edu/academic-calendar/2011/Fall

^Bad link.

Why is it bad? It works for me.

It’s a mobile URL, so try removing the m. But it’s pretty much the same as your link.

The m would be it! Doesn’t work on IE or Firefox (just forwards to artsci.wustl.edu) Didn’t notice it earlier ;p

Thank you all for answering my question. If you don’t mind, what are the “Last Day to Change Grade Option to “P” or “A” for an FL2011 Course” and the "Last day to change grade option to “C” "? Basically, we can opt for Pass/Fail course in the beginning of the semester and later we can change it to regular letter grades? Do they cover these things in the orientation week?

P = Pass/Fail
A = Audit
C = Credit (where you get an A/B/C/D/F)

You generally want to leave things as credit since you are limited by the number of pass/fail courses you can take for requirements (and for your major everything must generally be credit). But if you’re iffy about a class you can take it pass/fail (provided you know the rammifications) and decide to switch if you want after a couple months. They should go over it more at orientation.
